My name is Judy Just Price, and I have a concealed carry permit to carry a handgun in New Mexico. On November 24, 2009, a defective Taurus Millennium handgun almost killed me. My holster, with the gun still inside it, fell to the floor. As soon as it hit the ground, it discharged and sent a bullet into my stomach. I underwent 12 surgeries to repair the damage, and I may face future complications due to extensive scar tissue. Modern firearms should be drop-safe, yet Taurus’s Millennium guns fail this standard.

After learning that my accident was the second incident involving a defective Taurus gun—and that Morris Haynes, Attorneys at Law had represented the first victim—my husband reached out to Mr. Todd Wheeles at the firm. Throughout the meeting, Mr. Wheeles remained professional, knowledgeable, and supportive. He took control immediately, and within an hour we reached a settlement. Although no amount of money could ever make up for what Taurus put us through, I was grateful to finally have closure. Since then, I have been able to help family and friends who were in need by sharing part of my settlement.

Sadly, my situation is far from isolated. I know of at least one hundred other accidents worldwide involving Taurus guns. Brazilian manufacturers make the firearms, and the government even requires its police officers to carry them. Because of this, Brazilian media has interviewed me via Skype, and I stay in contact with injured officers who experienced unintentional discharges. Despite all of these incidents, the Judy Just Price and Taurus Gun Accident Company refuses to acknowledge that this weapon is defective. They have no scruples.
