You should call 911 right away if anyone was hurt or killed and have them come out to the scene of the accident.

Talk to witnesses.

Collect the names and contact information for any witnesses at the scene.

File an accident report.

Alabama law requires you to report any auto accident that results in bodily injury, death, or property damage more than $500 to the authorities within 30 days of the accident.

Report the accident to your insurance company.

Inform your car insurance company that an accident occurred. Generally, your insurer just needs some basic information about the accident to open a claim, including any pictures you took of the damage. Don’t talk to the other party’s insurance adjuster.
