It’s summer travel season, which means for many people it’s time to hit the road! An increase in traffic also means an increased risk of car accidents and vehicle wrecks. We’ve put together a list of our best tips should you find yourself in a car crash this summer. If you’ve been in an accident, call Morris Haynes today so you and your family can get back to enjoying your holiday!
You should call 911 right away if anyone was injured or killed and have them come out to the scene of the accident. Tell them if any medical care is needed!
Leave that to the investigating officers
Tell the officer what happened. Ask for the name and badge number of all officers you engage with and request a copy of the police report for your insurance company.
While the police will document the wreck, always take your own pictures of any damage from multiple angles.
Collect the names and contact information for any witnesses at the scene.
Alabama law requires you to report any auto accident that results in bodily injury, death, or property damage more than $500 to the authorities within 30 days of the accident.
Inform your car insurance company that an accident occurred. Generally, your insurer just needs some basic information about the accident to open a claim, including any pictures you took of the damage. Don’t talk to the other party’s insurance adjuster.
Call a lawyer if you were injured or had damage!
